• Docents provide free tours of the Grinnell Historical Museum to groups and individuals during public hours, describing the history of the house, provenance of the furnishings and appliances and their use in an early 20th Century household.
• Programs highlighting Iowa history are presented to the public and student groups of all ages. All Grinnell Third Graders get a tour of the Grinnell Historical Museum where they play games used in the 1900's, and enjoy hand churned ice cream.
• Volunteers help citizens and students with historical and genealogical research connected with Grinnell and Poweshiek County.
• Under its Outreach Program, volunteers of the Grinnell Historical Museum Society have taken exhibits to  senior centers for the enjoyment of retirees who are unable to visit the museum.
•  
  Obituaries, which were collected in card files at the Museum through 2006, are now available through the Stewart Library online.
• Two scholarships are given annually: one of $500 honoring one of the original incorporating members of the Society, Rose Stoops, and the second in the amount of $1,000 honoring long-term volunteers Lois Meacham and Betty Ernst, who retired in 2001.  Recipients are selected by the Grinnell High School faculty.
